Free Phone Number Validator

Paste a number and see instantly whether it's valid, with its country, line type and every standard format. Check one number or a whole CSV. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded.

Only used when you type a number without a country code.

Enter a phone number to check it.

What a phone number can tell you (and what it can't)

A phone number carries more information than it looks. From the digits alone (with no network lookup and nothing sent anywhere) you can tell whether it's a real, valid number, which country it belongs to, whether it's a mobile or a landline, and how it should be written for any system that expects a specific format.

That's exactly what this validator does, using Google's libphonenumber data running right here in the page. It's the fast way to clean a contact list before you use it: spot the typos, the numbers missing a country code, the landlines that will never open a chat, and the entries that simply aren't real numbers. What it deliberately does not do is tell you whether a number is registered on WhatsApp: there's no honest, browser-only way to know that. For messaging a cleaned list, pair it with the WhatsApp Link Generator or the Bulk Sender Helper.

What you get for each number

One number or thousands: the same checks run on every entry, entirely on your device.

Valid or not

A clear green tick or red cross, plus the difference between a number that's the right length and one that's a real, allocated number for its country.

Country & code

The country the number belongs to and its calling code, so a list from anywhere sorts itself out, and you can see at a glance what's foreign or mistyped.

Line type

Mobile, landline, VoIP, toll-free and more. Handy before a messaging campaign, since a landline usually can't receive a WhatsApp or an SMS.

Bulk + export

Paste or upload up to 2,000 numbers, get a sortable results table, and export the whole lot (with country, type and every format) as a clean CSV.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this check whether a number is on WhatsApp?
No. This tool validates the phone number itself: is it a real, correctly formatted number, what country and line type it is. It does not tell you whether the number is registered on WhatsApp. There is no official or browser-based way to check WhatsApp registration; that needs a connected WhatsApp account or a paid third-party API. Use this to clean and format a list before you message it, catching typos, missing country codes and landlines up front.
What does “valid” actually mean here?
A number is valid when it matches a real, allocated numbering range for its country, the strongest signal short of actually dialing it. There is also a weaker state: a number can be possible (the right length) but still not valid (not an allocated range). The tool shows a green tick for valid numbers and a red cross otherwise, with a short note explaining why.
What information can you get from a phone number?
Offline, from the number alone: whether it is valid/possible, the country, the country calling code, the line type (mobile, landline, VoIP, toll-free, premium…), and the number written in every standard format: E.164, international, national and as a wa.me link. Things like the current carrier or whether the line is switched on need a live paid network (HLR) lookup and are not part of this free tool.
Can I validate a whole list at once?
Yes. Switch to the Bulk (CSV) tab and paste numbers (one per line) or upload a CSV or vCard file. The tool finds the phone column automatically. It validates up to 2,000 numbers per batch and lets you export the results (valid/invalid, country, type and every format) as a CSV.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Every number is validated locally in your browser using an in-page copy of Google’s libphonenumber data. Nothing you type or upload is sent to a server. Your bulk list is also saved in your browser (localStorage) so it survives a refresh, and you can clear it any time.
Why is a number I know works showing as invalid?
The most common reasons are a missing country code (pick the country in the selector, or type the number with a leading +), a kept national trunk 0, or extra digits pasted in by mistake. Some ranges are also reserved by regulators for fiction/testing and are correctly reported as not valid.
Which formats does it output?
E.164 (+447700900123, the canonical machine format), international (+44 7700 900123), national (07700 900123), and a ready-to-use wa.me click-to-chat link. Each has a copy button.
