Make
Build visual, multi-step automations connecting WhatsApp to your other apps
Does not need the official WhatsApp APIWhat it is
Make (formerly Integromat) is a cloud automation platform built around a visual canvas: you lay out “scenarios” as a flow of connected modules and watch data move between them. It sits between Zapier’s simplicity and n8n’s flexibility: more visual and powerful than most no-code tools, still without writing code.
Like the others, Make doesn’t send WhatsApp messages on its own; it connects WhatsApp to your other apps. Its WhatsApp modules use Meta’s official WhatsApp Business Cloud API, and everything runs in Make’s cloud.
What you can do with it
- Design multi-step automations visually, with branching and loops
- Send WhatsApp template messages through the official Cloud API when something happens elsewhere
- Move and reshape data between apps (filter it, transform it, merge it)
- Schedule scenarios or trigger them from a webhook
- Add AI steps to summarise, classify or draft replies
- Connect to hundreds of apps, plus any service with an API via HTTP
How to get started
A first scenario usually goes:
- Create a free account: Make runs in the cloud, with nothing to install.
- Start a new scenario and add a trigger module (a schedule, a webhook, or a new record in an app).
- Add a module for each step, connecting them on the canvas: send a WhatsApp template, update a sheet, call another app.
- Add routers and filters so different data takes different paths.
- Run it once to test, then schedule it or leave it live.

Examples
An order in the shop triggers a scenario that sends a WhatsApp dispatch update and files the invoice in Drive.
Volunteer applications are routed by region, added to the right spreadsheet, and acknowledged over WhatsApp, one visual scenario.
A team uses Make’s branching and data tools to reshape records between systems that don’t otherwise talk, with WhatsApp alerts on exceptions.
Highlights
- Powerful visual canvas with branching, loops and data tools
- Often a more generous free tier and lower cost than Zapier
- No coding required
- Fully hosted; nothing to run yourself
Good to know
Make is cloud-only (there’s no self-hosted version) and its visual depth means a slightly steeper learning curve than the simplest tools. It doesn’t message WhatsApp by itself; the WhatsApp modules use Meta’s official Business Cloud API, so its eligibility rules apply. As always, don’t use it to bulk-message from a personal number.
